Khwai River Lodge is one of the oldest safari lodges in Botswana. It is located eight kilometres north-west of the north gate of the Moremi Wildlife Reserve. The camp is set under a canopy of old indigenous leadwood and fig trees and offers a view of the Khwai River flood plain.
The Khwai River is part of the Okavango Delta's system. But the lodge lies at the point where the river narrows to a stream and disappears into the sand and here you find Moremi, one of Africa's classic game reserves. Waterbuck, crocodile and hippo abound. Vast herds of antelope and zebra graze on the coarse grass. And where the antelope feed, the predators are not too far off: lion, leopard and cheetah, hyena and wild dog.
