The South Luangwa National Park is one of the great wildlife wonders of the world. It is nine thousand square kilometers (3,475 square miles) of pristine wilderness situated in Zambia's Eastern Province. The Luangwa offers a safari experience unmatched by any other destination, allowing year round access, open game viewing vehicles, walking safaris and night drives.
For many years the Luangwa Park has been visited by wildlife enthusiasts from all over the world. However, due to the remoteness of the Park and the difficulties of operating here the cost of a safari was prohibitive to many people.
In 1992, Flatdogs Camp opened and offered camping and self-catering facilities to budget travelers. In 2000, Flatdogs Camp moved to a new site and now offers facilities on a par with the up-market lodges at a fraction of the price. The Luangwa Valley and all of it's magic in now open to all.
