One of Townsville's earliest residences, The Rocks was originally owned by the founders of Townsville, John Black and Robert Towns. It was built as a Banker's Residence in 1886, became a hospital in the early 1900s and operated as an upmarket guesthouse during the 1930s.
In 1996 the present owners completed extensive renovations to restore The Rocks to the glory of its heyday. The place has a significant collection of memorabilia, antiques, photographs and stories which reflect its history
