
South Molle Island is between the Great Barrier Reef and the Queensland coast in the Whitsunday Passage and features 405 hectares of National Park rimmed by scenic beaches, bays and inlets.
Known as the Whitsundays, most of the islands are national parks. All are within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, which is World Heritage listed and which extends to the famous coral platforms some 25 nautical miles from Airlie Beach, Cannonvale and Shute Harbour, the Whitsunday coast towns collectively knows as Whitsundays.
The various peaks and bays of South Molle Island are quite accessible via approximately 20km of walking trails through the National Park. All trails are well kept, well signposted, and will repay the walker with a diversity of vegetation and wildlife, delightful destinations, and expansive views along the way.
Hamilton Island Airport is approximately 30 minutes journey by boat transfer. Proserpine Airport is located 40 minutes from Shute Harbour and connects with bus and taxi services.
