Moorville at Kyneton is a gracious Edwardian country house, built in 1902 by Mrs Moore Bell. She wanted to move further into the country when she moved to Kyneton. Little did she know that ninety years later Moorville would be only an hour's drive from the city of Melbourne.
Country-style hospitality is the order of the day in a large and spacious home that offers accommodation in four individually decorated double rooms. You can easily find a spot to read, and lots of books too, either inside or on the verandah overlooking the garden. The large gardens, with beautiful old trees, including two English oaks planted when the house was built, and sweeping lawns, adjoin parkland and the Campaspe River.
There is plenty to see whilst staying at Moorville - take a walk around the historic town, named just 150 years ago, along the river bank, or to the Botanic Gardens nearby. In Spring there is a sea of daffodils in the park opposite - it's just wonderful! There is an asphalt tennis court, heated indoor swimming pool, or you can play "cross country" petanque on the undulating lawn. Go for a drive - this is the Spa Centre of Victoria - drink from the many natural springs in the area, or partake of the waters at nearby Daylesford.
Breakfast is served with a view every morning, with homemade jams, muesli and of course fresh eggs from Fran's fowls. Sumptuous dinners can be arranged for you, featuring homemade and fresh local produce. In the winter months the open fire in the dining room is a comforting focal point during your dinner.
